Vol. 488 No. 5

Written Answers - Household Budgeting Scheme.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

96 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs if he will give details of the local authorities that do not use the household budgeting scheme. [6563/98]

The household budgeting facility is available in all county councils and corporations areas with the exception of three — Sligo County Council, Sligo Borough Corporation and the Corporation of Drogheda. In addition, the scheme is now operating in 28 of the 49 urban district councils. At the end of January 1998, 8,132 persons were availing of the facility. Every effort is being made to encourage the remaining local authorities to join in the scheme.
