Vol. 488 No. 6

Written Answers. - Passports for Investment Scheme.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

42 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reason for the delay in completing the report on the investment-based passport scheme which he stated in November 1997 was being finalised; and when he will be in a position to answer Parliamentary Questions on various aspects of the scheme as it operated between 1988 and 1994. [6789/98]

Pat Rabbitte

Question:

91 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he has concluded his review of the passport for investment scheme; when he will bring proposals before Government; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6700/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 42 and 91 together.

As requested by the Government I have completed a review of the investment linked naturalisation scheme. There was no undue delay in completing the review. The Government has yet to decide on the future of the scheme.
