50 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of gardaí convicted of criminal offences since 1990; the nature of the convictions; the sentences imposed; and the disciplinary actions, if any, taken in each case. [6794/98]

The following tabular statement details the number of gardaí convicted of criminal offences, excluding minor road traffic and other minor offences, since 1991 and the nature of the conviction and prison sentence, if any, imposed in each case. Where formal disciplinary action was taken, a description of the disciplinary penalty, if any, is also included. Figures for 1990 are not included as records for the year are not readily available to the Garda authorities.
