Vol. 488 No. 6

Written Answers. - Family Support Services.

Michael Ferris

Question:

70 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the organisations that have benefited from marriage and child counselling grants in 1997; the allocation of these grants for 1998; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6760/98]

Grants totalling £900,000 were paid by my Department in 1997 to 93 organisations under a scheme of grants for voluntary organisations providing marriage counselling services and child counselling in circumstances where the parents of such children had separated. The names and locations of the organisations concerned are set out in the tabular statement which I propose to have circulated in the Official Report.

With effect from 1 January 1998, responsibility for these grants was transferred to the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs. Queries relating to 1998 grant allocations should be addressed to his Department.

Schedule of Organisations to whom grants were paid in 1997 under the scheme of grants to voluntary organisations providing marriage counselling services and child counselling in circumstances where the parents of such children had separated.
