Vol. 488 No. 6

Written Answers. - Age Discrimination.

Bernard Allen

Question:

133 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the plans, if any, the Government has to banish age discrimination in the workplace. [3746/98]

The Employment Equality Bill, 1997, outlaws discrimination on grounds of age, and eight other grounds, in relation to access to employment, conditions of employment, equal pay for work of equal value, training, work experience and promotion. The Bill completed all Stages in the Seanad on 5 March 1998, and will be considered by the Dáil shortly.
