Vol. 488 No. 6

Written Answers. - Extradition Agreements.

Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin

Question:

180 Caoimhghin Ó Caoláin asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will halt the process of extradition of political prisoners in the Six Counties and Britain; and if he will move to repeal the Extradition Act, 1987. [6882/98]

I have no plans to change the arrangements, provided for by Part III of the Extradition Act, 1965, as amended, for the rendition of persons accused or convicted of offences committed in Britain and Northern Ireland nor have I any plans to repeal the Extradition (European Convention on the Suppression of Terrorism) Act, 1987, or the Extradition (Amendment) Act, 1987.
