153 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the person who has the overall responsibility for the Leader programme; and the reason a group administering the programme in County Mayo did not respond to an application submitted by a person (details supplied) in June 1995 in view of the fact that this information is not forthcoming from the local group. As stated in my reply to the Deputy to Question No. 95 of 10 March 1998 the Leader programme is administered at local level by approved groups which have the decision making authority in relation to grant aiding eligible projects within their operational areas. The approved groups have full responsibility for evaluating and processing applications for grant aid from project promoters. I have asked the Leader group concerned to advise the Deputy of the facts of this case.
