Vol. 488 No. 7

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Moynihan

Question:

168 Mr. M. Moynihan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when headage payments will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [7211/98]

The person named applied under the 1997 suckler cow premium scheme and the 1997 cattle headage scheme. He will receive his full entitlement under the 1997 suckler cow premium scheme within the next two weeks.

Under the 1997 cattle headage scheme, the person named applied on 40 beef cows. At an inspection on 2 December 1997 two of these animals were deemed ineligible for headage grants as one animal was a bull and the other animal was a bullock. My Department has informed the person by letter of 24 March 1998 and has advised him that his 1997 cattle headage grant is subject to a reduction penalty. He has been given the opportunity to appeal this decision and my Department is awaiting his reply on the matter.
