Vol. 488 No. 7

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

John Perry

Question:

177 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a favourable decision will be made on an area aid application for a person (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7380/98]

The final date for receipt of 1997 area aid applications was 9 June 1997, with penalties applying to applications received between 15 May and 9 June 1997. As the area aid application of the person named was received on 10 June 1997, it was not therefore acceptable as a valid application.

Question:

178 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a favourable decision will be made on an area aid application for a person (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7381/98]

The area aid application of the person concerned has been fully processed and cleared for payment.

Payments should issue to the person concerned in the near future.

Michael Ring

Question:

179 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if Leader grants will be paid to help purchase a slurry agitator; and, if not, if he will include this in the funding criteria so that machinery of this type can be grant assisted. [7382/98]

In accordance with EU requirements conventional agricultural production and practices are not eligible for aid under the Leader programme. For this reason I am unable to permit the funding of slurry agitators under the programme.
