Vol. 488 No. 7

Written Answers. - Stanhope Centre.

Jim Mitchell

Question:

205 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children the date on which the Stanhope Centre will be formally taken over by the Eastern Health Board; if this date has been confirmed in writing to the staff and board of the Stanhope Centre; if the present employees of the centre are now permanent, pensionable employees of the Eastern Health Board; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7664/98]

Tony Gregory

Question:

239 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Health and Children the date on which the Stanhope Centre will be formally taken over by the Eastern Health Board; when this will be conveyed in writing to the staff and board of the centre; and if the current employees of the centre are now permanent pensionable employees of the Eastern Health Board. [7191/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 205 and 239 together.

I understand from the Eastern Health Board that a provisional date of 24 May 1998 has been set for the transfer of responsibility of the Stanhope Centre to the control of the board. This is subject to the satisfactory completion of some outstanding legal issues. The board has informed me that staff will be kept informed of all developments in relation to this matter. It is intended that current employees of the centre will become permanent and pensionable employees of the Eastern Health Board from that date, subject to the resolution of the legal issues.
