Vol. 488 No. 7

Written Answers. - EU Funding.

John Perry

Question:

265 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if INTERREG funding in addition to Exchequer funding can be allocated to County Sligo as is the case in other Border regions, in view of the disastrous road conditions in the county and the fact that Sligo is losing out on up to £400,000 from INTERREG and is being penalised which is not the concept of INTERREG funding; if he can rectify this anomaly; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6923/98]

Sligo County Council has received grant assistance under the INTERREG programme every year that the scheme has been in operation since its inception in 1992. In all, the council has received £2,672,000 under this programme, including a 1998 allocation of £399,000.
