Vol. 488 No. 7

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Michael D. Higgins

Question:

301 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his Department will approve funding in 1998 for the Curry sewerage scheme, County Sligo; the total cost of the scheme; and if he will identify the source of the funding for the scheme. [7438/98]

A revised preliminary report for the Curry sewerage scheme, with an estimated cost of £313,000, has been submitted to my Department. Given the high level of commitments under the 1998 water and sewerage services investment programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve this proposal.

Question:

302 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his Department will approve funding in 1998 for the Cummeen drainage scheme, County Sligo; if his attention has been drawn to the urgent need for the scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7514/98]

The Cummeen drainage scheme forms part of the Sligo Bay wastewater management scheme, the planning of stage 1 of which was approved by the European Commission in 1995 for financial assistance under the Cohesion Fund. Stage 1 is included in the 1998 water and sewerage services investment programme to be advanced through planning.
