Vol. 488 No. 7

Written Answers. - Pensions Ombudsman.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

312 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs if he has received a report from the Pensions Board on the issue of a pensions ombudsman; if he will appoint a pensions ombudsman; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7183/98]

The Pensions Board has been asked to examine the issue of a pensions ombudsman and the form such an office might take. I understand that this review is part of the board's policy agenda for its current term of office.

I expect a report from the board towards the end of this year. I will ensure the matter is then examined in my Department.
