Vol. 488 No. 7

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

Ivan Yates

Question:

347 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will expedite a land registry dealing for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford. [7042/98]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49 (i.e. Acquisition of Title by virtue of long possession) of the Registration of Title Act, 1964, which was lodged on 4 December 1997. I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of the applicant's claim for registration as owner, take some time to process.

I am informed that queries have been raised in this case which are currently a matter of ongoing consultation with the applicant's solicitor. I assure the Deputy that the Land Registry will do everything possible to expedite the resolution of this application.
