Vol. 488 No. 7

Written Answers. - United States Civil Reserve Air Fleet.

John Gormley

Question:

98 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs his views on whether the United States Civil Reserve Air Fleet performs a quasi-military role; and if the movement of these planes in Irish airspace should be more effectively regulated. [7473/98]

The role of the United States Civil Reserve Air Fleet which, I understand, involves virtually every major US commercial air carrier, is a matter for the United States authorities. In the circumstances, I do not consider it appropriate for me to comment on the matter.

In answer to the second part of the Deputy's question, all movements of aircraft in Irish airspace are effectively regulated.
