Vol. 489 No. 3

Written Answers. - Home Help Service.

Michael Ring

Question:

169 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 181 of 3 March 1998, he will confirm whether a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will immediately receive her weekly entitlement to home help of five hours in one day to enable her daughter-in-law to go to the nearest shop, which is six miles away, in view of the fact that the home help is agreeable to the new arrangement but the health board has not replied to correspondence. [8122/98]

As the Deputy is aware, the provision of home help services in the Mayo area is a matter for the Western Health Board. The board has advised me that it has not been possible to issue a response to the Deputy as not all aspects of this case were finalised.

However, the board reports, that it hopes to reply to the Deputy in the near future.
