Vol. 489 No. 3

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

Michael Ring

Question:

223 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when a dealing in the Land Registry Office will be completed for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [7852/98]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49, i.e. acquisition of title by virtue of long possession, of the Registration of Title Act, 1964, which was lodged on 10 November 1997. I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of the applicant's claim for registration as owner, take some time to process.

I am informed that queries have been raised with the applicant's solicitor in this case. I can inform the Deputy that the Land Registry will do everything possible to expedite the resolution of this application on receipt of a satisfactory response to its queries.
