Question:

244 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if he will give details of the moneys disbursed under the operational programme for tourism for each of the years for which data is available; if he will provide these figures for each regional authority for this period; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 244 and 245 together.

Table 1 sets out the expenditure from the European regional development fund and the European social fund under the Operational Programme for Tourism 1994-99 for the period from 1994 to end June 1997, the most up to date data currently available.

A further £233.42 million of European Regional Development Fund and ESG grant assistance will be spent by the end of the programme, bringing total EU expenditure to £354 million.
Table 2 summarises expenditure in the period from January 1994 to end June 1997, on a regional basis. This table contains a number of estimates relating, first, to the apportionment of expenditure on infrastructural projects which cross regional boundaries and, second, to the apportionment of expenditure on marketing and training across the regions.
