Vol. 489 No. 3

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

John Bruton

Question:

264 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the conditions in which teachers and pupils work in Coláiste Pobail Ráth Cairn, County Meath; the proposals, if any, his Department has to deal with this matter; and if he will provide a detailed progress report on the proposed construction of a new school building for Ráth Cairn. [7845/98]

My Department's post primary building unit has recently approved Stage 3, developed sketch scheme, for the proposed new building project of 1,578m² to replace the existing accommodation at Coláiste Pobail Rathcairn, County Meath. The building unit is currently awaiting the Stage 4 submission, Detailed Design, from Meath VEC. When Stage 4 of architectural planning has been received and approved, the bill of quantities will be prepared at which point the project will be ready to go to tender. It is not possible to say at this stage when construction will commence.
