The 15 psychologists appointed recently to improve psychological services to primary schools will take up duty over the next few months. This current expansion of my Department's psychological service will almost double the number of primary schools having access to the help of an educational psychologist.
The allocation of schools to the new psychologists has not yet been finalised. However, the selection of the schools who will benefit from this expanded psychological service is being carefully considered by officials of my Department, including the primary inspectorate, who are in contact with schools on a daily basis and are, therefore, aware of the needs of individual schools.
