Vol. 489 No. 3

Written Answers. - Inland Fisheries.

Jim Higgins

Question:

42 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if he received a report from the Central Fisheries Board in relation to a scheduled meeting between the Central Fisheries Board and the east Mayo anglers; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7803/98]

I can confirm that at my request a meeting between the East Mayo Anglers and the Central Fisheries Board was held earlier this month and I am advised that these discussions on the future management of particular fishing rights on the River Moy were constructive and positive. A further meeting will be held next month to continue the dialogue on future directions. I welcome the positive approach taken by all sides to those consultations and look forward to further progress in the short term.
