Vol. 489 No. 4

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Liam Aylward

Question:

135 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the progress, if any, on the provision of a new Garda station in an area (details supplied) in County Kilkenny. [8292/98]

The plan is to build a new Garda station at the location in question. The Office of Public Works has prepared a sketch scheme which has been approved by Garda management. However, an alternative option has recently been brought to notice and the Office of Public Works has been asked to investigate it to see if it would be a more suitable and cost effective solution.

Question:

136 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the progress, if any, on the provision of a new Garda station in an area (details supplied) in County Kilkenny. [8293/98]

It is proposed to build a new Garda station at the location in question. A site has been purchased adjacent to the old technical school for this purpose. It is not possible to say at this stage when work will commence on this project as it is subject to overall priorities and the availability of finance.
