Vol. 489 No. 5

Written Answers. - Aer Lingus Strategic Alliance.

Thomas P. Broughan

Question:

39 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if she or officials from her Department have discussed with Aer Lingus a revised timeframe for the strategic alliance mandate for Aer Lingus; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [8393/98]

I refer the Deputy to my replies to similar questions on 16 December 1997 — No. 57 and 24 February 1998 — No. 136.

While the current position remains as outlined in those replies, I hope that resolution of the situation in regard to the possible sale of TEAM will allow the board of the Aer Lingus Group to focus on the question of a possible strategic alliance for the airline and to submit the required report to me shortly.
