Question:64 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if her Department has calculated the number of road haulage vehicles operating without full licences from her Department; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [8416/98]
I propose to take Questions Nos. 63 and 64 together.
There are currently 10,146 road haulage vehicles licensed by my Department. There are no means at my disposal to accurately estimate the number of unlicensed haulage vehicles in use. The forthcoming review of the road haulage industry will provide an appropriate opportunity to consider this issue.
