Vol. 489 No. 5

Written Answers. - National Lottery.

Noel Ahern

Question:

100 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Finance the regulations under which the national lottery operates; if it is in order for it to refuse to supply outlets with its products if they sell scratch cards, or until they cease to sell other scratch cards, from other organisations such as Rehab; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8486/98]

The national lottery operates under the provisions of the National Lottery Act, 1986.

The national lottery company is not influenced by the availability of other lottery tickets in a retail outlet when making decisions in relation to the award of agencies to sell their scratch cards or to operate the lotto game. The Deputy may be interested to know that a number of retail outlets which sell Rehab scratch cards have agencies to sell national lottery cards and tickets.
