Vol. 489 No. 5

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

101 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance the progress, if any, in the acquisition of a site or building for a Garda station at Leixlip, County Kildare; the number of offers, if any, made by, or on behalf of, his Department in respect of specific premises; the offers, if any, other than inquiries made; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8520/98]

The Commissioners of Public Works are exploring the possibility of providing a new Garda station in Leixlip by means of a joint development. In relation to offers made for sites or premises, I refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 175 of Tuesday, 3 March 1998, on this subject. As no properties have been identified which are available for sale and capable of meeting the requirements for a new Garda station, the question of making offers does not arise.
