Vol. 489 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Willie Penrose

Question:

278 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason installation aid grant has not been paid to date to a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8788/98]

No application was received in my Department from this person. I understand that he may be ineligible as he did not meet the educational requirement of the scheme prior to its suspension on 7 August 1997.

Michael Ring

Question:

279 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be paid his installation aid grant in view of the fact that he was promised payment some time ago. [8789/98]

Having regard to the volume of work on hands there has been some unavoidable delay in processing the application in this case. Arrangements have been made to have this application processed promptly and if everything is found to be in order payment will be made in the near future.

John Perry

Question:

280 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the plans, if any, he has to reintroduce the control of farmyard pollution grants; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8791/98]

Jim Higgins

Question:

341 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will reintroduce the control of farmyard pollution grants; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9466/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 280 and 341 together.

There are no funds available to reopen the control of farm pollution scheme at this stage. The position on overall funding under the Structural Funds is being kept under constant review to see if savings are arising in any area which would enable the reintroduction of a modified scheme.
