Michael Ring

Question:

327 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the Leader funding sanctioned and paid in the towns of Swinford, Charlestown and Ballyhaunis, County Mayo for the past three years including details of each recipient and project. [9237/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 326 and 327 together.

Funding was not sanctioned or paid directly to integrated resource development companies in County Mayo by my Department under the Leader programme.

In accordance with the "bottom up" philosophy of the programme, approved local action groups have the responsibility for decision making in relation to grant approvals in their areas and for processing claims for payment. I have asked the approved groups in County Mayo to supply the information requested directly to the Deputy.
