Vol. 489 No. 6

Written Answers. - Farm Retirement Scheme.

Michael Creed

Question:

337 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the proposals, if any, there are to amend the farm retirement scheme to allow participants to plant their lands for forestry. [9368/98]

It is a condition that the transferor, who retires under the scheme of early retirement from farming, must release all his-her lands. Accordingly, it follows that a transferor would then not be in a position to plant lands he-she no longer held. However, under the scheme, a transferee who receives land from a transferor may plant part of the lands subject to certain limits.
