Vol. 489 No. 6

Written Answers. - Assisted Human Reproduction.

Richard Bruton

Question:

385 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health and Children his views on the issue of storage of fertilised embryos as an option to assist in efforts to help parents who have difficulty in conceiving; and the circumstances in which he believes this should be permitted. [8562/98]

Proposals relating to assisted human reproduction raise significant legal and ethical issues. A careful examination of the range of matters in this complex area is required and at present I am considering how best these might be addressed.
