Vol. 489 No. 6

Written Answers. - Departmental Technology.

Emmet Stagg

Question:

413 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Health and Children if his Department has a free telephone number, 1890, for the convenience of the public; and, if so, the action, if any, taken to bring this service to public notice. [8726/98]

The Department of Health and Children does not have a free telephone number through which it can be contacted.

In its Customer Service Action Plan, 1998-1999 which the Department published in December 1997 the Department proposes to introduce a Lo-Call, 1890, number which, when operational, will enable a member of the public anywhere in the country to contact the Department for the price of a local call.

This facility will be one of a number of measures which will be implemented by the Department over the life of the Action Plan.
