Vol. 489 No. 6

Written Answers. - Death of Patient.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

422 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will appoint an independent inspector to examine the circumstances surrounding the death of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 in view of the fact that his family do not feel the hospital is taking all their concerns into account and questions remain to be answered. [8817/98]

I am not aware of the detailed background to this case.

In general, I feel it is preferable for all concerned that matters such as this be resolved between the providers of care and the patient's family directly and I am bringing the Deputy's question to the attention of the hospital management on this basis.
