Vol. 489 No. 6

Written Answers. - International Symbol of Access.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

499 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the criteria and conditions, if any, drawn up, governing the awarding of the international symbol of access as recommended by section 9.28 of the report of the Commission on the Status of People with Disabilities; if not, the plans, if any, he has in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8749/98]

The National Rehabilitation Board (NRB) administers the international symbol of access scheme in this country. My Department does not propose to take over the administration of this scheme from the NRB. Accordingly, any review or amendment of the criteria and conditions governing the scheme is solely a matter for the NRB.
