Vol. 489 No. 6

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Michael Ring

Question:

531 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the progress, if any, made on a main drainage scheme (details supplied) for a town in County Mayo; when funding will be approved; and when construction will commence. [9219/98]

This scheme is included in my Department's water and sewerage services investment programme to be advanced through planning in 1998. The local authority's proposal for subsoil investigations along the routes of the proposed sewer lines and pumping stations were recently received and are being examined. Co-funding of the planning costs of the scheme are being provided from the EU Cohesion Fund. I am not in a position at this stage to say when work will commence on the scheme.
