Question:575 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands if a Gaeltacht road grant will be approved for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [9193/98]

Since this question, which specifically relates to matters regarding a Gaeltacht scheme, is being put to me in English, I am answering it in English even though I have stated that it is my policy to answer all such representations and parliamentary questions in the Irish language.
My Department has received an application under scéim na mbóithre áise (accommodation roads scheme) 1998 from the individual referred to by the Deputy and this application is being evaluated in the context of the other 203 applications which have been received from applicants in the Mayo Gaeltacht and in the context of the limited amount of funding available to me under the scheme.
A decision on the applications to be funded will be made as soon as possible.
