652 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will designate Edmonstown primary school, Dublin 16, with developing school status as requested by the school; and if this status will be designated prior to the commencement of the 1998-99 school year. [9342/98]

A request was recently received from the managerial authorities of Edmondstown primary school seeking to have developing school status conferred on the school.

The matter is currently being examined within my Department and a formal response will be made to the board of management as soon as possible.
