Vol. 489 No. 6

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Willie Penrose

Question:

717 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has received a detailed submission for a school (details supplied) in County Longford in relation to providing equivalent moneys to the board of management of the school as it proposes to give by means of prefab accommodation in order to allow it construct the extra classroom at the school; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8779/98]

The manager of the school referred to by the Deputy has applied to my Department for grant assistance towards the cost of providing additional ancillary accommodation at the school.

On receipt of the application my Department's planning and building unit initiated a detailed examination of the long-term accommodation requirements at the school. This examination is now completed and officials from my Department's building unit have arranged to meet with the school manager shortly to discuss the proposed project.
