Vol. 489 No. 6

Written Answers. - Teachers' Allowances.

Ivan Yates

Question:

727 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Education and Science when arrears and bonus payments will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford. [8875/98]

The revised proposals for agreement on the pay and conditions of teachers under the PCW provided for the payment of allowances in respect of qualifications which hitherto did not qualify for such payment. The effective dates for the implementation of the proposals varied depending on the qualification in question and/or the age of the teachers concerned.

The application submitted by the teacher in question has been processed and I am pleased to inform the Deputy that the teacher is entitled to the payment of an honours primary degree allowance and a pass Higher Diploma in Education allowance. Arrangements are being made to have the necessary adjustments made to the payroll and to issue the appropriate arrears to the teacher concerned.
