Vol. 489 No. 6

Written Answers. - Centre for Deaf Studies.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

756 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Education and Science the likelihood of imminent funding to establish a permanent training course at the Centre for Language and Communication Studies, Trinity College, Dublin; and the possibilities which exist for cross departmental support for this much required facility. [9183/98]

The Higher Education Authority is at present in consultation with Trinity College, Dublin, on the proposal to establish a centre for deaf studies at the college. Following these consultations, a report will be furnished to my Department for consideration. The question of funding this development and the possibility of cross-departmental support will be considered at that stage.
