Vol. 489 No. 6

Written Answers. - Teachers' Allowances.

Michael Ring

Question:

764 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education and Science if a person (details supplied) in County Mayo is entitled to the children's allowances payment in view of the fact that he started service prior to 1 January 1980. [9212/98]

To qualify for the payment of children's allowances a teacher must have been in a whole-time pensionable position on 31 December 1979 and must have had no break in service since that date. As the teacher concerned does not satisfy these conditions, he is not entitled to the payment of children's allowances.
