Vol. 489 No. 6

Written Answers. - School Staffing and Accommodation.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

783 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will report on the progress on the provision of additional classroom accommodation and teachers to cater for the waiting list at St. Paul's Special School in Beaumont, Dublin 9; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9448/98]

On the 9 February 1998, my Department advised the chairperson of the board of management to instruct its private architect to proceed with an application for planning permission and with the detailed design for an extension at St. Paul's special school, Beaumont, Dublin 9. When all the planning work has been completed, the question of allowing this project to proceed to construction will be considered in the light of available financial resources. At this stage it is too soon to say when construction work will commence.
