Vol. 489 No. 7

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Question:

169 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive the maps to rectify the digitisation of his 1997 area aid in view of the fact that these were promised some weeks ago and the delay is holding up his balance payment of the 1997 suckler cow premium. [9572/98]

Maps have been received from the person concerned and the necessary digitising should be completed within the next two weeks. The processing of the area aid application will then be finalised and any outstanding payments will be issued.

Liam Aylward

Question:

170 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a review can be carried out on an application by a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who was refused the 1997 suckler cow scheme as the application was submitted late to the Department; if he will accept that the applicant who is not conversant in completing application forms was dependant on his spouse to submit this form; and if he will accept the medical evidence submitted with his appeal on behalf of his spouse who was seriously ill at the time and was not in a position to complete the application form until she returned home from hospital. [9573/98]

The herd owner lodged an appeal on 16 April 1998 concerning his 1997 suckler cow premium application. Appeals are dealt with in the order in which they are received and require individual examination. The herd owner's appeal will be examined in due course and he will be notified of the outcome.
