26 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Defence if his attention has been drawn to the high failure rate of recruits to the FCA in relation to audio testing which is almost 66 per cent; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9321/98]

38 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Defence the total number of persons who applied to join the FCA, by command, in the period 1 September 1997 to 31 March 1998; the total number actually recruited by command in this period; the total number of reservists who resigned or were discharged in the same period by command; the total number of applicants who failed to satisfy the medical criteria for enlistment by command; the further number of these who failed because of hearing impairment; and the total number for enlistment in process at this time by command.
