Vol. 489 No. 7

Written Answers. - Audio Testing Equipment.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

66 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Defence the number of times the machines for audio testing used by his Department are calibrated; if they are all examined by one qualified company; and when the last examination was carried out. [9314/98]

Audiometers and audiometric booths, the sound proof booths in which the tests are carried out, are calibrated annually by the Industrial Acoustics Company, 30-31 Wicklow Street, Dublin 2. In addition, the operator carries out a calibration check prior to use daily and if discrepancies arise, the above company is engaged to check and if necessary service the machine. The date of the last check was November 1997.
