65 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Health and Children the total number of children in care for the years 1967, 1977, 1987 and 1997; if he will give a breakdown of the number of children; the category in which they were placed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9696/98]
The information sought by the Deputy is set out in the following tables subject to the qualifications indicated. Because of changes in practice and legislation in relation to children in care, the categories under which the information is collated have changed.
