Vol. 490 No. 2

Written Answers - Grant Payments.

John McGuinness

Question:

115 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his Department will reconsider an application for installation aid from a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny in view of the fact that the reason for refusal is based on the late supply of details regarding the herd number while the application itself was submitted on time; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9727/98]

The application in this case cannot be accepted as the applicant did not have a herd number registered in his name before the suspension of the scheme on 7 August 1997. Confirmation of herd number registration is one of the requirements of a valid application, as set out in the scheme's operational guidelines which were available to all applicants.

Michael Ring

Question:

116 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive his third REP scheme payment in view of the fact that his inspection took place over two months ago. [9728/98]

A second year REPS payment of £3,566.29 was recently issued to this applicant. His third year in the scheme is not due to commence until July 1998.

Michael Creed

Question:

117 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will be paid his 1997 cattle and sheep headage grants, the balance of his suckler cow grants and the third instalment of ewe premium and his beef premium grants. [9729/98]

Michael Creed

Question:

118 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will be paid his 1996 area aid grants. [9730/98]

In so far as 1996 is concerned the person named has been paid £2,520 under the cattle headage scheme, £2,167 under sheep headage, £3,270.16 under suckler cow premium, £5,500.37 under special beef premium and £6,942.24 under ewe premium based on a forage area of 56.66 hectares. My Department, however, is not fully satisfied that the person named operated a separate unit from that of his late mother, who was also an applicant under the 1996 and 1997 cattle and sheep schemes. The matter is being investigated at present with a view to resolving the outstanding issues as soon as possible. This issue is delaying payment of 1997 grants to the person concerned.
