Question:

136 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if the cattle headage for 1996 and 1997 will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon. [9887/98]

It is a basic requirement of the headage scheme that an area aid application be submitted for the year in question. As the person named did not submit an area aid application for 1997, she is not therefore entitled to any headage payment for that year. The person named was paid her full entitlement, limited by her forage area as declared on her 1996 area aid application, of £503.55 on 13 November 1996 under the 1996 cattle headage scheme.
