Vol. 490 No. 2

Written Answers - ISPCA Regulation.

John Gormley

Question:

209 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the role, if any, his Department plays in regulating the ISPCA; and if he will outline the amount and method which is used to dispense money to the ISPCA from his Department. [9944/98]

The ISPCA is a registered charity and I have no regulatory role in relation to it.

My Department makes an annual payment to the ISPCA in respect of the costs incurred by it in the maintenance and operation of the Register of Guard Dogs. In 1997 the payment amounted to £24,817.
