Vol. 490 No. 2

Written Answers - Registration of Title.

Jim Higgins

Question:

254 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reason for the delay in completing registration of a folio for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo, the documentation for which was lodged by the Land Commission with Land Registry in 1978. [9909/98]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that the registration the Deputy refers to comprises two applications, a Land Commission schedule and a transfer.

In the case of Land Commission schedules, the property is deemed to be registered as of date of vesting by the Land Commission. This registration is in the final stages of completion and it is expected that it will be completed within the next fortnight.

In the case of the transfer I am informed that queries have been raised with the applicant's solicitors on 21 April 1998. These queries must be satisfactorily discharged before the matter can proceed.

Finally, I can confirm that the Land Registry will do everything possible to expedite the resolution of this application.
