256 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when a final settlement will be made in relation to a case (details supplied) where a member of the Garda Siochána was injured in the course of duty. [9911/98]

The case referred to by the Deputy is the subject of a civil claim for damages. The papers in the case are with my legal advisers and the issue of liability is still being considered.
